Jacob "Jake" Ernest Schuler was born on October 22, 1960, in Faith, SD, to Norman and Florence (Lightfield) Schuler, the second of four children.       Throughout high school, Jake helped out at Mortensons Motors, owned by his father, and took EMT courses, eventually passing with his certification when he was just 16 years old. He later attended Western Dakota Tech in Rapid City for auto mechanics, graduating in 1979.
Throughout the years, Jake worked in Faith, Hettinger, Lemmon, and Belle Fourche, SD, finally settling in Spearfish at Spearfish Motors, having worked there since 1991. Jake met Cindy Tucker, and they were married on July 14, 1990. To this union, came four children. Jake and Cindy later divorced.
Jake was always kind and caring, and was the first to offer help, especially with car issues. He was even known to stop and help complete strangers with their car troubles. He was a jokester and would always try to put a smile on your face. Jake will be dearly missed by those who had the pleasure to have known him.
Jake Schuler, 59, of Belle Fourche, died Monday, September 21, 2020, at the Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.
He is survived by his four children, Kyle Schuler, Joy Schuler, Hope Schuler, and Jim Schuler; three siblings, Norman Ray (Shelly) Schuler, Lily (John) Bachman, and Donald (Michelle) Schuler; and many nieces and nephews.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Florence Schuler.
Private family services will be held at a later date due to Covid-19.
