Genevieve Amyne Isaacs, 94, died Monday, December 8, 2008, at Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care.
Visitation will be Friday from noon until 9:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Rev. Denzel Nonhof officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.
Genevieve was born January 17, 1914, in Philip, SD, to Lloyd and Hazel (Waldorf) Harrison. When she was 6 weeks old, her parents moved to their homestead southwest of Faith. She attended grade school at Cooper #1. In 1930, Genevieve attended Business College in Rapid City.
Genevieve married Joe C. Isaacs in Sturgis on February 24, 1931. She lived on their ranch southwest of Faith her entire life. Genevieve carried the mail in the summers for 56 years. She enjoyed raising large gardens and did lots of canning.
She sewed for her family as well as for others. Her hobbies included fancy work and reading. She also enjoyed piecing quits and doing puzzles.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond (Diane) Isaacs, Faith, Richard (Barb) Isaacs, Faith, and Harold (Jean) Isaacs, Jordon, MT; seven grandchildren, Alvin, Dean, Jack, Wanda, JoDee, Jeana, and Jana; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances (Gerold) Engelen, Forest Grove, OR; and two nieces, Barb (Mark) Rutherford and Beverly (Bob) Reichard, all of Portland, OR.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe in January 2008; and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial has been established to the Faith Community Action Team.
