In 1967 my mom and I moved in across the street from Mev. We have shared so many years together from me being just 4 years old, getting the ball while all of us neighborhood kids would accidentally kick it into her yard. Somehow I became the one who always had to go get it because everyone else was so afraid of the grouchy old woman. But Mev was so much more than that. I always asked before retrieving it because she was always on her knees wedding the beautiful plants she grew. I knew better than to just step uncaring on those plants. I got invited to come play with all of her grandkids whenever they would come visit and I thought of them as if they were my best friends. It was always so different playing inside her house. I treasure those times yet today as I look back. Then there were other events that Men became a mentor to me by her actions and the caring she gave me when I got married she gave me a lot to cook in and I still use it today. When my husband died her and Addie went me a wonderful sympathy card. She held each of my children as they came along and there were often fights amongst them on who would be giving her the weekly papers. Then came my grandkids and Mev held those babies too. She didn't get to see them often because like her own grandkids and kids mine live far away. The picnics, the coffee at her house, irmigard, maggie, and ferns were a pleasure to go to because you always got cookies, candy,or cake. Msg was the one that I told when my dad got sick and later passed on. If mom or dad weren't home. There was always the knowing that I could walk across the street and find them in the yard or knock on the door to find then. I still remember vividly the day she shooed the blackbirds from her bird bath and how every time she stepped outside that summer how they would power dive towards her squawking all the time. So many good memories of her beautiful soul as she blessed not only me but my entire family just by being part of our lives. It will always be hard not to make sure her shade is up and her beautiful lace curtains showing to show us she was okay when I go visit my mom. May you all know that she was a.very special pe4son on every life she touched. My heart goes out to you all for such a huge loss in your lives

So sorry to hear of your loss. Mev was a wonderful friend to my mom. They worked together and had coffee together for many years. I so admired her green thumb! Mev provided me geranium slips to add to my garden but they never looked quite like the ones she would grow. She is with Jesus now!
