Raymond was born on June 10, 1937, in Rapid City. He lived in Keystone for 17 years and went 1st through 10th grades there, and 11th and 12th in Hill City. He and his siblings and Mom and Dad moved to Sturgis, where he joined the National Guard from 1956 to 1964. He worked at the Saw Mill in Sturgis.
Raymond married his wife, Marlene, in 1960, and had two daughters, Darlene and Cheryl. He started work at Fort Meade in 1960, and worked there for 33 years. He retired and then took care of his parents and built a house from the ground up.
Raymond learned how to play the guitar and always enjoyed music. He was very dedicated to his family and took very good care of them through the years.
Raymond Spencer Sheely, 82, of Park City, MT, died Monday, March 2, 2020, in Laurel, MT.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Sheely; his sister, Hazel McRoberts; his brother, Wayne Sheely; his daughter, Cheryl Russell; grandkids, Bryan Russell, Steven (Tracy) Russell, Tamara (Patrick) Wilcox; and 9 great-grandkids.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Chuck and Alma Sheely; his daughter, Darlene; his sister, Delona Frost; and two nephews, Lance Sheely and Wilbur McRoberts.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7. 2020, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at the Keystone Mountain View Cemetery.
Memorial has been established to Shriner's transportation fund.
