Obituary

Robert Louis Mousseau was born January 13, 1941, to Lavonne Hawkins and Alexander Mousseau. Robert attended 1st thru 4th grade in Martin, SD, 5th grade at Holy Rosary Mission, and grades 6, 7 and 8 at Grand View School in Alliance, NE. He was in for grades 9 through 12 and graduated from Bennett County High School in 1960.
On August 10, 1962, Robert joined the Army and did basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He then went on to be in the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, KY.
Robert worked many different jobs. He was a maintenance worker that took care of several apartments and homes. He painted water towers and helped build homes in Martin, SD.
Robert, 79, of Cody, NE, was called to Heaven on January 24, 2020, at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Fort Meade, under hospice care.
Robert is survived by his children, Nicole Prairie Chicken and family, Renee Mousseau and family, and Ritchie Mousseau; siblings, Lynda (Chuck) Baker, Vannald (Odilia) Hawkins, Myrna (Craig) Wilder, Twyla Mousseau, Beverly (Rod) Kirk, Marty (Mark) Hawkins, and Donnie (Liz) Garcia; nieces, LaVonne Baker, Tamra Baker, Timarie Larabee, and Danielle Peck; nephews, Chuck Baker, Robert Heger, Kyle Lafromboise, Eli Lafromboise, Daniel Leighton, Jarrod Mousseau, and Jeremy Mousseau and their families.
Robert was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joe Hawkins; grandmother, Julie Red Willow; mother, Lavonne Hawkins; father, Alexander Mousseau; brothers, Ritchie Mousseau, and Michael Mousseau; and sister, Diane Mousseau.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2020, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD.
Committal services, with military honors, will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with Pastor Bill Hines officiating.
