Obituary

Tamara Ann (Streeter) Barker was born on January 28, 1968, to Edward Streeter and Kathleen (Streeter) Murray at St. Joseph Hospital in Deadwood, SD. Through her young life she lived in Whitewood, Belle Fourche, Spearfish, Rapid City, Sioux Falls and Sturgis, SD. She attended school in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, and Sturgis. Tami married Roger Barker on November 19, 1983. From this union came 5 girls. She raised her daughters in Sturgis, SD, spanning 36 years.
Tami loved hiking, rock hunting, and drawing with her family. She enjoyed time in the kitchen, often teaching her daughters all of her tricks. At the age of 15, she started a cleaning business, which her and her husband expanded to include many businesses and residents in the Sturgis area for over 30 years. Growing up, life wasn’t always easy. Even though Tami went through some tough times, she diligently and selflessly provided a life of comfort for her daughters. Her sense of humor and her caring spirit echoes throughout the lives of those who crossed her path and she will be missed.
Tamara “Tami” Barker, 52, died Monday, March 30, 2020, at her home in Sturgis.
Tami is survived by her husband of 36 years, Roger Barker of Sturgis, SD; their 5 daughters, Chasity (Mike) Wang of Willow Springs, MO, Becky (Randy) Faber of Stickney, SD, Mary Barker (Zo Dwinell) of Vale, SD, Kim Barker of Sturgis, SD, and Tara Barker of Sturgis, SD; 11 grandchildren, Amarah Wang, Willow Wang, Hallie Faber, Kalia Wang, Hannah Faber, Heather Faber, Mikey Wang, Emma Neely, Leon Neely, Harley Faber, and Otho Dwinell; her mother, Kathleen Murray, of Bowman, ND; 8 siblings, De Kirsch of Bowman, ND, Greg Streeter of Sturgis, SD, Jennifer Dane of Rushville, NE, Brandi Igou of Sioux Falls, SD, Kerri Swindoll of Hernando, MS, Annette Haire of Spokane, WA, Chris Streeter of New York, and Hope Streeter of New York; as well as several aunts and uncles and their extended families.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Streeter; stepmother, Mary Streeter; grandparents, Francis and Dolores Murray, and Clyde and Vivian Streeter; as well as her in-laws, Homer and Edna Barker, Wayne Barker, Alan Barker, Paul Barker, and Linda Barker.
Due to the situation with COVID-19, services for Tami will be held at a later date.

Roger and family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. When I think of when I moved into my house on main street. You and Tami were the only ones I knew .when I think of how young we all were back then. Our first two kids were all in the same age and we shared so many recipes. One thing always stood out and that was Tami 's love for you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May your memories help you when you need them the most.
