Adam Camacho, Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2023. Adam was born on May 23, 1953 in Chadron, Nebraska to Miguel Camacho (Rojas) and Bernice Consuelo (Martin) Camacho. Adam attended Edgemont High School, South Dakota. After High School, Adam enlisted in the US Army and served as a guard for the Army. While in service Adam took rappelling classes. Besides traveling around Europe, Adam enjoyed fine tuning his rappelling techniques on Germany's challenging mountains. After service, Adam married Lois Frasier in Custer, South Dakota on August 1, 1978.
After service, Adam worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad Company, in Washington State and Idaho and later moved to Thornton, Colorado where he worked at the Montgomery Ward store in Denver. In 1984, Adam and Lois, moved to Fort Morgan where Adam began his career at the US Postal service, together they raised 3 children.
Adam was a hard worker, with a wonderful sense of humor. Adam's greatest joy was his family. He loved family gatherings. Adam's spare time activities included taking road trips with Lois to WA, ID, Canada, CA, GA, SD, NE, MO and WY. Walking with and caring for his dog; tinkering with old clocks; reading the Bible and collecting antiques. Adam's favorite hobby was shopping for bargains and could be found at local shops and stores within 80 miles of his home. Adam was a generous kind man who, whenever he heard of a death of a relative or friend would quickly send a card, along with some money, because he said with a smile, "It costs so much to die."
Adam was preceded in death by both parents. Adam is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Lois Camacho. He is also survived by his three children: Jedidiah, Heith, and Calena Camacho of Fort Morgan. Adam is survived by siblings; Cecilia Camacho of Guam, Mike (Val) Camacho of Federal Heights CO, Eva (Dirk) Woodard, of Sedalia CO, Anna (Tom) Branch of West Chester PA, and Lucy La Rochelle of Thief River Falls MN. Adam is also survived by six grandchildren: Shawn, Skyla, Starlyn, Aiden, David, and Dominic. Adam also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friends. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Burial with military honors will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD.
