Adam James Engel, Age 38, Sturgis, died Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Adam was born March 10, 1975, in Sturgis to Paul R. Engel and Patricia J. (Hehn) Engel. He grew up in Sturgis and graduated from Sturgis Brown High School on May 29, 1994.

Adam married Shyla Nohava on August 31, 2002, in Sturgis and together, they had two beautiful daughters, Teagan Marae (age 15) and Ariah Leigh (age 10). After his divorce from Shyla, he met Lori Geuke and had been in a long term relationship until the time of his death.

Adam worked many construction jobs including D&D Truss and Iverson Construction. He also did great handyman work and many times would do this work just to help others and never expected to be paid for a job well done. He helped many family members, neighbors and friends and was very talented and took great pride in the work he did.

Adam enjoyed the outdoors and had a love for fishing. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, having family and friends over for BBQ's, and watching football. As a kid he was involved in baseball, football and bowling. Growing up with three siblings and great childhood friends, he enjoyed life to the fullest. He touched many people throughout his life and had a "mischievous smile" that will not be forgotten. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody. He was very close to his family and enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. His children meant the world to him and he was extremely proud to be "their Dad".

Adam died Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 1:04 am at Rapid City Regional Hospital after being air lifted by helicopter following a serious motorcycle accident at the mouth of Boulder Canyon early Friday evening.

He is survived by his children, Teagan Marae Engel and Ariah Leigh Engel; sister, Chris (Mike) Maltaverne and daughter, Emily; brother, Paul Engel and daughter, Allison; sister, Amy (Preston Reece) Engel and children, Austin, Brianna, Amara, Dion and Roman; grandma, Charlotte Hehn; sister, Missy (Adam) Avery and daughter Sophie, step-mom, Pam Engel; significant other, Lori Geuke and children, Devon and Dawson; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul R. and Patricia J. Engel, and his grandparents, Harold Hehn, and George and Elsie Engel.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 2:00 pm. at the Sturgis Wesleyan Church.

Visitation will be at the Sturgis Wesleyan Church on Friday, November 1, 2013, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A memorial has been established for the benefit of his children.
