Marie was born August 19, 1922, in Valentine, NE, to Barney and Adeline DeNaeyer. She attended school in Valentine, NE.

Marie worked as a waitress before her marriage to Ralph Duane Koss. After she married, she was self-employed as an Avon representative for many years. She was a member of St John's Episcopal Church in Valentine and served as a Sunday School teacher and Altar Guild member. After moving to South Dakota, she was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Sturgis, SD.

Adel Marie (DeNaeyer) Koss passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the Golden Living Center in Rapid City, SD.

Marie is survived by her son, Leslie (Cora) Koss, Rapid City; granddaughters, Lisa Kautz, Rapid City, and Stephanie Nelson, Forrest Lake, MN; four great-grandchildren, Sara and Tyler Kautz, and Ashley and Austin Nelson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Duane; sister, Dorothy; brother, Doug; and her grandson, Larry.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Sturgis with viewing one hour prior to the services and with Father Tom Campbell and Father Bunker Hill officiating. Burial will follow at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
