Agnes S. Ganeff, 93, of Spearfish, SD, formerly of Miles City, MT, and Gillette, WY, passed away at the Dorsett Home in Spearfish, SD on Sunday evening, August 3, 2014.
Agnes was born June 4, 1921, on the family ranch at Stroner, WY, to Joseph Sabatka and Anna (Prosser) Sabatka. She was the second youngest of 7 children. She grew up and attended country schools and later met and married her husband, John Z. Ganeff, on August 28, 1939, at Ft. Wayne, IN. Two daughters were born to this union; Jeanette Marie and Dorothy Ann. They ran the family ranch for many years and later moved to Gillette.
In 1969, they retired and moved to Miles City, MT, to be closer to family. John passed away June 2, 1971. Agnes resided there until 2010 when she moved to an assisted living in Spearfish.
Surviving are her two daughters, Jeanette Marie Crocker of Miles City and Dorothy Ann "Dottie" Steinlicht of Sturgis; five grandchildren, Robert Bandy, Donnie Bandy, Kerri Nicholson, Steven Crocker, and Tina Rafftery; and five great-grandchildren, Karon DeShaw, RaeLynn Bandy, Savannah Chaffin, Zachary Chaffin, and Trevor Wilson. There are also numerous nieces and nephews and extended family in Czechoslovakia.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 7, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gillette, WY, with Pastor Jared Tucher officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette.
