Alan Dale Peterson was born June 7th, 1957, in Hawarden, Iowa, to Vernon Peterson and Doris Ann Myers. Alan moved to Illinois where he graduated from high school, worked several jobs, and moved back to South Dakota after a terrible injury causing Alan to learn how to walk, talk, and live life to his fullest capabilities. Alan made his home in Sturgis, SD, for the past 30 years. Alan fought a valiant battle with his health, always positive, always cheerful, grateful, and thankful, never ever giving in or giving up on his life.

Alan lost his battle on June 9th, 2024, two days after his 67th birthday. He was surrounded by loving family who will miss him dearly.

Alan is survived by his sisters: Sandra Henry, Linda Gjesdal, Diane (Joe) Hendricks, and Sharon (Kimn) Nielsen; and sister-in-law: Colette Myers.

Alan was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Peterson, his mother, Doris Merrick, and his brother, Duane Myers.
