Alan Boyd Price was born December 6, 1947, in Dupree, SD, to Walt & Thora Price. His childhood years were spent on the family ranch in Red Owl, SD. After attending country school, he graduated from Faith High School. In 1966, he enlisted in the US Army to serve during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged in 1969, he married the love of his life, Merla Dawn Weyer. They were blessed with two children, Launa and Chad. The next 48 years they spent ranching in the Red Owl / Opal area. Along with ranching, Alan enjoyed woodworking, welding, and spending time with his family.

Alan passed on Friday, September 1, 2017, at Rapid City Regional Hospital as the result of an accident.

Alan is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Merla Dawn; daughter, Launa (Shane) Grubl; son, Chad (Jenny) Price; five grandchildren, Teigen & Trey Grubl, and Brayden, Brigg, & Brynlie Price; and his parents, Walt and Thora Price.

Alan was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Price; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Merle and Addie Boyd Weyer.

Per Alan's wishes, private family services were held.

A memorial has been established in Alan's memory to the Opal and Red Owl Fire Departments.
