Albert Lee Baier, 78, Rapid City, died Monday, December 29, 2008, at the Rapid City Regional Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Father Dan Juelfs officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Black Hills National Cemetery.
Albert was born April 24, 1930, in Mill Iron, MT, to Lee and Carolyn (VanDewerker) Baier. He attended school in Camp Crook. Albert served in the US Air Force from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1955.
Albert married Barbara Larson in Belle Fourche on February 9, 1963. He worked for MDU and retired in 1990.
He was a member of the VFW, the Elks, and Good Sam.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Baier, Rapid City; step-daughter, Sherry (Mike) Ragatz, Deadwood; step-grandson, Rob (Lynnette) Ragatz, Rapid City; six sisters, Audrey Cordell, Rita Baier, and Sandra (Lyle) Sainsbury, all of Camp Crook, Shirley (Rut) Fusilier, Texas, Charlene (Ron) Rosencranz, Ridgeway, MT, and Judy (George) Reising, Cinncinatti, OH; one brother, Mark (Jill) Baier, Gillette, WY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Joe, Kenny, Rodney, and Forest.
A memorial has been established to the Rapid City Regional Hospice House.
