IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Albert William
"Bill" Munroe
October 31, 1946 – September 1, 2015
Albert William "Bill" Munroe, 68, Stoneville, SD, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at the ranch due to a tractor accident.
Bill was born October 31, 1946, at Deadwood, SD, to Albert and Mabel (McGillivray) Munroe. His father brought Mabel and Bill home to a sheep wagon on Sulphur Creek where they lived until moving into a house on Sulphur Creek.
Bill and his parents herded sheep for years until Bill sold enough horses to fence everything and start building his ranch. He bought his first sheep when he was nine years old and sold his last one when he was 68. It was either him or them! Bill was a "do it your selfer." He either made do with what he had or built something to make things work.
He loved a good horse and raised and broke horses for many years. Horse people came from all over to have their mares bred to the old stud who always threw cow sense into his colts.
Bill's greatest achievement in life was his family and his friends. When he needed you the most, you were there for him and he could never thank you enough.
Bill married Marvis McNary on October 17, 1980, at the ranch.
Survivors include his wife, Marvis, Stoneville; son, Will (Heather) Munroe, Pierre; daughter, Kelly (Heath) Keffeler, Sturgis; three amazing grandchildren, Esther, Everett, and Oakley; sister, Mary Beth (Gary) Anderson; aunt, Barbara (Roger) Jensen; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Bernard) Andera, Carol Tuckerman, Karen (Butch) Pribnow; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his rodeo sidekick, Grandpa Everett.
