Albertine was born November 18, 1926, at Lakeside Community to Octave and Mable Simon. After attending Nursing School in Aberdeen, SD, she married Thurlo Jensen, November 8, 1947, in Webster, SD. They moved to Chicago Heights, IL, after their marriage.
In 1949, Albertine and Thurlo returned to Lakeside to farm-ranch in the community. This is where they raised their family of three girls, Sharon (Bob) Mayer of Rapid City, Janette (Dennis) Jensen of Coyle, OK, and Julie (Joseph) Pekron of Hot Springs, SD; and four boys, Steve, (Kathy) Jensen of Sturgis, SD, Mark (Fleda) Jensen of Spearfish, Rodger Jensen of Buffalo Gap, SD, and Greg (Samantha) Jensen of Spearfish, SD.
In 1979, they sold the farm and moved to Spearfish at West Acres. She always had a huge garden and sold lots of produce. In addition, she canned and pickled lots of vegetables for her family. Granny always had a house full of kids!
Albertine Jensen, 92, passed into the Glory of Heaven at Spearfish, SD, on Saturday, May 11, 2019.
She is survived by her children; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Edgar Simon of Lakeside; sister-in-law, Shirley Simon of Aberdeen, SD; and a special cousin, Irene Welch of Rapid City, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurlo; her grandson, Aaron Jensen; her parents, Octave & Mabel Simon; her brothers, Charles and Thomas Simon; and her sisters, Dorothy and Lucy Simon.
Viewing will be held at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 17th.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 18, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 846 N 7th St., Spearfish, SD. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Interstate 90, Exit 90 then 5 miles north at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019.
Memorials have been established to St. Paul Lutheran Church and to Lakeside Cemetery.
