Obituary

Aldon Edward "Sparky" Holter, 78, Whitewood, died Monday, June 20, 2011, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 9:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 27, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor Lloyd Lemke officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard.

Aldon was born April 15, 1933, at Sherwood, ND, to Henry and Annie (Hagen) Holter. He grew up in Sherwood. Aldon served in the US Navy from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1957.

In the late 1950's, he moved to Sturgis where he worked as a mechanic. Sparky owned and operated Sturgis Transmission for several years. He also worked as a substitute teacher. Later, Sparky worked at Fort Meade in the kitchen and file room until he retired in 2000.

Sparky married Linda Swanson October 13, 2001, in Sturgis.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved to walk. Sparky and his brother also loved to race cars at Black Hills Speedway.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Holter, Whitewood; five children, Connie Spisak, Sioux Falls, SD, Tim Holter, Rapid City, Donna (Ronnie) McCllough, Platte, SD, Bobby Holter, Rapid City, and Roy Holter, Sturgis; eighteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Daniel (LaVada) Holter, David (Louise) Holter, and Jimmy (Mary) Holter, all of Rapid City; and one sister, Eileen Albrecht, Loveland, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leonard and Rocky Holter.
