Alfred Andrew Duprel, 54, Sturgis, died Saturday, August 13, 2011, in the Lippold Hospice Suite of the Sturgis Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be noon until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. A rosary service will be offered at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church in Sturgis, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Fr. Arnold Kari officiating.

Alfred was born August 21, 1956, in Sturgis to Andrew and MaryLin (Connelly) Duprel. Alfred graduated from Sturgis High School where he played football and wrestled. He attended South Dakota State University and returned home where he worked on the family ranch. He later worked for Traffic Safety Services (TSS), Sweetman Construction, and also at Elk Creek Steak House. In 1989, he went to work for Hills Vending.

On October 4, 1984, he married Kim Schmidt in Sturgis.

Alfred was a member of many pool leagues. He enjoyed watching sports, especially high school athletics. He also loved watching his children as they participated in sports. Throughout his life he was involved with 4H and FFA. He was a member of Western Jr. Livestock and held a position on the board.

Survivors include his wife, Kim Duprel, Sturgis; sons, Dusty Duprel, Los Angeles, CA, Andrew (M'Kenzi McNenny) Duprel, Sturgis, and Alex Duprel, Sturgis; daughter, Nicole (Kenny) Huber, Sturgis; mother, MaryLin (Bob) Anderson, Vale; brothers, Allen (Lorna) Duprel and Albert (Judy) Duprel, all from Sturgis; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cat, Thomas.

Alfred was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred and Bernice Duprel and Mike and Martha Connelly; one brother, Alton Duprel; one son, Cody Duprel; and his father, Andy Duprel.

A memorial has been established to the Lippold Hospice Suite at Sturgis Regional Hospital.
