Obituary

Alfred "Al" Wenzel passed away Dec.16, 2014 at his home in Hermosa, SD.

He was born at Grindstone, SD the son of Paul Alfred Wenzel and Alene Danley on June 23, 1942. Al attended Alfalfa Valley School and Wasta Elementery School.

He graduated from Quinn High in 1961. He was the drummer and youngest member of the "Gumbo Lily Kids" family band. He enjoyed country music.

Al married Judith Rhynard and to this union four children were born: Trace, Terry, Victoria and Justin Wenzel. Al was parts manager for John Deere Company in Cheyenne WY 1965-1968, Casper WY 1968-1971 then in Belleglade, FL 1971-1976.

He married Carol Scheenen Dec. 28 2005 at Wall, SD together they owned and operated the Sunrise Campground and Rock Shop in Wasta. After retiring he moved to Hermosa, SD and ran his own tractor and lawn mower repair.

Al is survived by his wife Carol and Step son Warren and wife Wendy Scheenen; children Trace Wenzel, Minot ND; Terry / Gary Rantala, and Justin Wenzel, all of Ocala, FL, Victoria Behen, Dallas, GA; Six Grandchildren Cody, Brooke, Sean, Makinsey, Steven and Rodney, his twin sister, Aline/ Dennis Rhode of Ogalalla, NE, sister, Gailia "Gay" (Richard) Hadlock of Wasta, SD. He had a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; a half- sister Rosemary Dickey of Priceston, IA and half- brother Wayne Wenzel of NV.

Al was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Jeanette, two half brothers, Arnold and Paul, and one half-sister Viola Sowles.

Al's wishes were no funeral or memorial service. The dispersal of his ashes will take place at a later date.
