Alice Virginia Donley, 94, Piedmont, died Monday, December 06, 2010, at Sturgis Regional Senior Care.
Memorial services will be Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Our Lady of the Black Hills Catholic Church in Piedmont with Fr. Mark McCormick officiating. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral Mass. Inurnment will be at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Kenosha, Wisconsin, at a later date.
Alice was born November 17, 1916 at Toledo, Ohio, to Robert and Marie (Allen) Gottfredsen. She attended grade school in Racine, Wisconsin and graduated from St. Catherine's High School, also in Racine. She attended St. Therese's School of Nursing in Waukegan, Illinois, graduating in 1940.
Alice married Thomas L. Donley March 1, 1941. They lived in Kenosha, Milwaukee, and Racine, Wisconsin. Alice returned to school and received her certificate in Public Health Nursing. She worked as a public health nurse for the City of Racine for 15 years. She moved to the Black Hills in 1990 where she enjoyed fishing, sewing, gardening, and her grandchildren.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Black Hills Catholic Church in Piedmont and several parishes while living in Wisconsin.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathleen (Kenneth) Van Asma, Piedmont; Patricia (Robert) Schmidt, Russellville; Arkansas; one sister, Marie Ruppert, Racine; 8 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 brothers and one grandchild.
In lieu of money and flowers, a memorial to Terra Sancta has been established.
