Allen was a big fan of NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt, General Motors, and the Atlanta Braves. His two dogs, Yukon King (Malamute) and Mack (Australian Shepherd/Black Lab), hold a special spot in his heart.

Due to health issues, he retired in January 2025. In June 2025, he was diagnosed with Stage IV Adenocarcinoma (NSCLC). He fought cancer to the end.
