Obituary

Allen Charles Miller was born September 2, 1956, at the Sturgis hospital to Eddie and Helen (Beehler) Miller. It was Labor Day and was no doubt a precursor to Allen's humor and love of puns.

Allen attended school in Sturgis, graduating in 1974, and excelled in academics, music and sports.

His work ethic was also seen in his neighborhood paper route, help with the Miller brothers (Eddie and Ernie) taxi and bus company, and in junior high going to work at Tri State Livestock News where he worked until leaving for college at SDSU.

By the following year the printing industry drew him in again, with Allen working in Missoula and Sturgis, finally settling in Gillette where he opened his own business, Action Printing. He eventually returned to Sturgis, working at printing jobs in the northern Black Hills.

Allen married Myrna Hill June 4, 2011.

He could be found at most of his son and daughter's school functions, hunting, fishing, riding horseback, spending quality time with family, volunteering at Sturgis Brown High School as a chaperone or sporting event, delivering meals on wheels, or working at Sturgis United Methodist Church where he was a member.

Allen died at home the morning of July 12, 2022, at the age of 65.

Allen was preceded in death by his daughter Brittany and his parents.

He is survived by his wife; his daughter, Callie (Austin) Lee of Severance, CO; his grandsons, River and Ezra Lee; his son, Jon Paul of Stickney, SD; his brothers, Dan (Marcia) of Vail, AZ, Jerry (Judy) of Volga, SD, and Ken (Judy) of Missoula, MT; many much loved nieces, nephews and cousins; his mother-in-law, Norma Hill of Sturgis; his Norwegian exchange student daughter, Lise Tønnessen McKay (Jonathan) of Norway; and his first wife, Debbie (Tim) Patmore of Sturgis.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Sturgis United Methodist Church, Sturgis Brown High School Sam's Closet (a fund to assist students in need), or a charity of choice.
