Allen Henning Sjovall, 79, of Nisland, SD, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the Fort Meade VA Hospital, Fort Meade, SD, following a battle with lung cancer.

Allen was born September 24, 1944, to Henning and Lillian (Frazen) Sjovall in Britton, SD.

He was the second child out of four boys. Allen grew up on a small dairy farm east of Langford, SD, where he attended school.

In the summer of 2004, while working for Jack Hise, Allen met the love of his life, Kimberly Covell. Allen and Kimberly were married on May 13, 2007. They enjoyed 17 years of marriage together.

Allen was a man of all trades, best known for his beautiful rag rugs. He was very well liked by all who were blessed to have met him and will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

Allen was preceded into the afterlife by both his parents, and brothers, Paul, and Ivan.

He is survived by his loving wife: Kimberly Sjovall of Nisland; brother: Jim (Carol) Sjovall of Sioux City, IA; sons: Scott Sjovall of San Antonio, TX, and Ryan (Hollie) Sjovall of Rapid City, SD; stepsons: Douglas Covell of Deadwood, SD, and Edward Nickerson, Jr. of Belle Fourche, SD; and stepdaughters: Monica Riggs of Anderson, IN, and Elizaberh Wise of Rapid City, SD.

Allen will be buried at the Highlander Church, Langford, SD, in 2025.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Allen at Sturgis Pizza Ranch, Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 12:30 p.m.
