Alvin was born April 8, 1929, to Isaac and Laura ( Neiminen) Ala. Alvin was a long time farmer in the Whitewood Valley. He was proud of his Finnish heritage, outgoing, and interested in the people around him.

Alvin Ala died March 9, 2017, at Belle Fourche Health Care.

He is survived by his sisters, Mable Harrison of Omaha, NE; and Elsie Bigelow of Lynwood, WA; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Viola Ala, and his parents Isaac and Laura Ala.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 15, 2017, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Graveside Services will be Thursday, March 16, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Whitewood Cemetery with Pastor David Baer officiating.
