Obituary

Amanda Jo King, 68, Sturgis, died Monday, September 17, 2012 at her home in Sturgis.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with Pastor Kay Jennings and Fr. John Wedgewood officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Amanda was born December 8, 1943 at Detroit, MI, to Felix and Marjorie (Goeltz) Merrick. She grew up in Mt. Lake, NJ. She attended the University of Michigan.

Amanda traveled and worked as a street artist in New Orleans and owned and operated her handmade leather shops in Detroit and Helena, MT. She moved to Montana as a placer miner with her first husband, John Scheidecker.

Following her marriage to Richard Sinclair, they ranched and Amanda worked for a bank.

She moved to Billings where she worked for Lextron Animal Health and met Albert W. King, Jr. They married in Billings in April of 2001. They moved to Sturgis, where Amanda continued to work for Lextron until her retirement in 2008.

Survivors include her husband Al King, Sturgis; sons, Eric (Danita) Sinclair, Helena, MT, Grant Sinclair, Huntley, MT; step children, Michael (Janet) Stenman, Aiken, SC, Bradley King, Spokane, WA, Bryan (Mary) King, Baton Rouge, LA, Kacy (Gilbert) Diaz, Rapid City, Kari (Roger) Rose, Rapid City; sister, Liza (James) Zopp, Charlotte, NC; also 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Richard, one granddaughter.
