Andrew G. Ridley was born April 6, 1952, at Rapid City, SD, to Bat and Roselyn (Anderson) Ridley. He was raised on the family ranch and attended school in St. Onge. He graduated from Spearfish High School and attended Black Hills State in Spearfish while working on the ranch at home. Andy was the 4th generation on the ranch that his greatgrandfather homesteaded in 1883.
Andy married Kim Bell at the Little Dane Church on September 18, 1979. They enjoyed a tremendous life together for 33 years.
Andy was a member of the Days of 76 Committee. He was the Chairman in 1992. He was a charter member of the Rough Riders Saddle Club in St. Onge, a member of South Dakota Stock Growers, and a life-member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Andy excelled in the timed events of rodeo in high school, college, and professional rodeo. Special times for Andy were spent working his teams of horses at the ranch. At age 16, he took his first team to the Deadwood Days of 76 Parade and continued the tradition for years.
Andy was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Whitewood.
Andy, 60, St. Onge, died Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Sturgis Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Ridley, his mother, Roselyn Ridley, his sister, Wanda Ridley (Russ Roberts), and nephews, Clint and Tee Ridley, all of St. Onge; and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bat in 1989; and his grandparents.
Memorials have been established to the Little Dane Church, Immanuel Lutheran Church, and the St. Onge Volunteer Fire Department.
