Angenette "Angie"
Schemmel

Angie was born November 2, 1943, at Sturgis, SD, to Clifford and Janice (Blair) Snyder.
She attended elementary school at Tilford, SD, and graduated from Sturgis High School in 1961. She attended college at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion and received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1965. Angie taught elementary students in Rapid City, SD, Evergreen, CO, and Mankato, MN for a period of 4 years.
Angie was united in marriage to Larry Schemmel on June 15, 1969, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis. To this union, three sons were born; Curtis, Gregory, and Shawn. Angie was a stay-at-home mom and worked with parents of preschool children in the early childhood family education program.
Angie was involved in 4-H when she was growing up and was a 4-H leader as an adult. She was active in the Grace Lutheran Church of Sturgis, the 4-H Extension Club, DAR, PEO, Antique Club, Alpha XI Delta Sorority, and was a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star. She was very honored to have been chosen to place the wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington, DC.
Angie enjoyed her flower gardens and mowing the lawn. She preferred to be outside than working inside. She and Larry loved to host the Blair family reunions in their yard.
She looked forward to fishing on the Missouri River with friends and family and playing Jokers with the Busbys and Konolds. Her winters were spent in Texas with friends. Angie enjoyed refinishing old furniture and hunting for antiques. She loved making quilts for each of her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren and the time spent with them.
Angie was always concerned about others and interested in their lives and activities. She was willing to help anyone with anything.
