Louise was born November 22, 1928, in Ottumwa, SD, to Wilhelm & Florence Schreiber. While she was young, she lived with her family in Ottumwa and Nemo. She finished through the 8th grade while attending several country schools, including Crook City School and the Hathaway School in Whitewood Valley. In 1944, she moved with her family to Bremerton, WA, where she worked in the ship yards. They moved back to Whitewood, to the farm in 1946.
On September 16, 1947, she married the love of her life, John E. Cooper. They lived in Sturgis, Whitewood, and Milesville, and finally settled in Whitewood in 1954.
Louise worked at a few small jobs before going to work at Ft. Meade, in the kitchen and bakery. She worked there for 27 years, then retired to do the things she loved to do. They included Bingo, camping with their camping club, the Centennial Roamers, and doing several arts and craft projects.
Anna "Louise" Cooper, 86 of Whitewood, SD, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015, at David M. Dorsett Healthcare Community in Spearfish, SD.
Louise is survived by her husband of 67 years, John; four children, Ken (Sharon) Cooper, Sturgis, SD, Bill (Roxie) Cooper, Whitewood, SD, Sandy (Roger) Gillespie, Whitewood, SD, and Calvin (Carmen) Cooper, Whitewood; two sisters, Johanna Turner, Colorado Springs, CO, and Alice Yuill, LaGrange, WY; two brothers, Fred Schreiber, Pittsburg, TX, and Charles Schreiber, Excelsior Springs, MO; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 sister, Helen Crist, 2 granddaughters, Lori Natchke and Cody Cooper; and a grandson, Tige Cooper.
A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Northern Hills.
