Obituary

Anna "Ann" Belle Hubbard, 86, Sturgis, died Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be Friday, November 22, 2013, from noon until 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis with Pastor Jenene Earl officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.

Anna was born October 30, 1927, one of 12 children born to Leslie and Clara (Linton) Reid near Union Center, SD. She attended schools in Union Center, Fairpoint, and graduated from high school in Newell.

She attended Black Hills Normal after graduation and started teaching at 17 years of age. She taught in rural country school north of Belle Fourche. She furthered her education by attending summer school for several years and received her Master's Degree. She also taught college at Black Hills Normal in Spearfish.

She married Glen Erwin "Jack" Hubbard at Belle Fourche on June 30, 1949.

They moved to California and Ann continued to teach. After they returned to Western South Dakota, Ann resumed teaching in Belle Fourche and was also the principal in Belle Fourche.

Ann took art classes in college and while living in California. She was an accomplished painter in oils and china. She liked "Jack" but really loved to paint. She was a member of several art clubs and the Methodist church.

Ann is survived by her husband, Glen "Jack" Hubbard, Sturgis; brothers, Ray (Diane) Reid, Spearfish, Howard (Rose) Reid, Belle Fourche, and Lester (Marie) Reid, Arpan; and sister, Izelle Berglund, Belle Fourche.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and four sisters.

She will be remembered as a wonderful wife and loving sister and aunt.

A memorial has been established to Ann's Art Club, "Black Hills Art Association."
