Anna Irene
Stenerson
April 26, 1921 – February 3, 2017
Anna was born April 26, 1921 to Mikal Norman and Anna Marie Moe Iverson on their Ladner farm, Ladner, SD. Anna grew up with her 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
She attended Ladner grade school, then attended high school in Camp Crook, SD.
Anna married Edson Richard Stenerson on April 26, 1938, 2 weeks before she completed her freshman year. They were married 52 years.
Annie and Eddie lived in Camp Crook, SD, Hardin, Montana, then later settling on their farm at Ladner, SD. To this union were 10 children: Edson Mikal (Micky) , David LeRoy, Jerry Lee, Karen Irene, Karl Iver, Robert Arland, Myrna Louise, LeAnna Kay, DiAnna Fay, and Joseph Lewis.
Anna's greatest love was her children. She would read the Bible, books, and make up stories and write in her own little books. She taught many games, especially scrabble, teaching crafts, sewing, making bread and being a wonderful role model!Annie held the role of 'Scrabble Queen'
Annie was rural mail carrier for approximately 45 years. She was one of the first EMTs in Ladner, a Home Health aide in Buffalo, wrote Ladner news for Nation Center paper, and a neighbor who loved company.
Annie and Eddie opened their home and hearts to young and old. They were support to all during many life experiences and their home was a safe haven. Many young persons boarded during winter months to attend school. They were considered family members!
Annie did not know the word 'bored'! She was a gifted quilt maker, sewed clothes for her children, grew gardens, canned food, collected rocks, hiked, climbed Bear Butte, and loved to explore!
Annie loved to travel! Her handle was 'Roadrunner"! She visited all 48 lower states and 2 countries. In 2004, she jumped the Grand River with her Nissan. Many of her grandchildren will tell of being taught to drive while on the mail route.
