Annabel Grace Luze, 75, "Turtle Woman," Midaxi Wiash, Deadwood, SD, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at home peacefully surrounded by family and friends.
Traditional Wake services will be held Friday, July 15, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. at Johnny Bird Memorial Hall in Four Bears, ND.
Visitation will be Monday, July 18, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead with Pastor Frederick Johnsen officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery near Deadwood.
Annabel was born June 8, 1941, to George and Louise Bruce at home in Shellcreek, ND, and grew up in Newtown, ND, where she met her first husband Alvie Harrison. On their way to California, they made a stop in Deadwood, SD, and decided to stay and raise their family. Annabel raised 7 children: Curtis, Alvie Jr., Larry, David, Dorla, Kent, and Tracey; and 4 stepchildren, Charles, Cheryl, Jay, and Jennie. Once all her children were in school, she went to work in the healthcare field. In 1978, Annabel met her second husband, James "Jim" Luze, and added to her family: James Jr., Linda, Vonda, and Todd. Annabel loved her family and her job. Annabel was a very loving, compassionate, and giving person. She was loved by everybody she encountered.
She is survived by one sister, Georgann (Solly) Danks, Newtown, ND; one brother, Malcolm (Reba) Bruce, Phoenix, AZ; three sons, Alvie Jr. (Josie) Harrison, Newtown, ND, Larry Harrison, Gillette, WY, and Kent (Subrina) Harrison, Baggs, WY; two daughters, Dorla Harrison and Tracey Harrison, both of Deadwood; stepchildren, Cheryl Johnson Ogden, UT, Jennie Harrison, Salt Lake City, UT, James Jr. Luze, Lead, SD, Vonda (Shane) Storley, Britton, SD, and Todd (Kathy) Luze, Lead; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Louise; her husband, Jim; and children, Curtis, David, Charles, Jay, and Linda.
Memorials have been established to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead, Deadwood VFW Auxiliary, and Hospice of the Northern Hills.
