Arlene M. Gustafson, 84, passed away May 14, 2025, in Rapid City.

Arlene was born on April 20, 1941, the youngest of five children born to Martin and Gracie (Wanless) Jacobson in Whitewood, South Dakota. She grew up in Deadwood and graduated from Deadwood High School. Arlene married Harlan "Gus" Gustafson on July 16, 1961 in Deadwood. Together they welcomed four children, Darrel, David, Todd, and Susan.

Arlene worked for 16 years at Dakota Territory Federal Credit Union as the Vice President of Lending. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, fishing, and playing cards. But above all she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Arlene was kind, loving, and caring woman who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Gracie Jacobson; brother, Lorin Jacobson; and sisters, Eunice Anderson, Genevieve Nickerson, and Janet Mason.

Arlene leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Harlen "Gus" Gustafson; children, Darrel (Paula) Gustafson, David (Theresa) Gustafson, Todd (Debbie) Gustafson, and Susan (Stacy) Galland; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and her dog, Jake.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11 AM, at Grace Lutheran Church in Deadwood. Visitation will be held Friday, May 23, 2025 from 5-7 PM at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. A private family burial will be held at Oakridge Cemetery.
