Arlo Michael Jahner, 65, of Sturgis, South Dakota, passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 2022.

Arlo was born to Matt and Anne (Dirk) Jahner on October 7, 1957, in Faulkton, SD. From there the family moved to Sturgis for his early years, and in 1964 they moved to Deadwood, SD, where he graduated from Lead High School in 1975.

In 1980 Arlo met Brenda Westall and they were married in 1983 in Spearfish Canyon. The two resided in Spearfish and they had two daughters, Alison Jahner and Tara McGovern.

After his high school graduation, Arlo held several jobs, but it was his time at Homestake, and Pope and Talbot that were the longest. He was happiest when he had odd jobs around the Black Hills area, as he was able to utilize his handywork skills as well as help those in need.

Arlo met Laverne Turbiville Collins who he lived with until the time of his passing. The two of them enjoyed going to concerts in Deadwood and spending time with each other's families, especially the grandkids.

Arlo had a great passion for working on cars, woodwork, and helping his friends and family as much as he could. He owned several hot rods throughout his life, and each one had a story that would light up his face when he told it.

It was his time working at Sturgis Photo that fulfilled him most, from an employment perspective. He was able to again utilize his handy work skills and absolutely enjoyed the people he worked with.

Arlo is survived by his special friend Laverne; his two daughters, Alison Jahner of Newalla, OK, and Tara (Sean) McGovern of Peoria, AZ; his grandsons, Wesley Hopper, and Gabriel Jahner; his granddaughters, Caitlin Hopper, Adriana Hopper, and Aaliyah Jahner; siblings, Larry (Anita) Jahner, Miles (Alice) Jahner, Jeanne (David) Leach, and Dorothy Tinnell; as well as many nieces and nephews whom he absolutely loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Anne Jahner, as well as his granddaughter, Angel Pierce.
