Arthur Anton Grenstiner, 80, rural Sturgis, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at the Lippold Hospice Suite of the Sturgis Regional Health Care Center.
Visitation will be noon until 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Rosary services begin at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2010 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Deadwood with Fr. Kerry Prendiville officiating. Burial follows at the Oak Ridge Cemetery near Deadwood.
A memorial has been established to the Lippold Hospice Suite at the Sturgis Regional Health Care Center.
Art was born December 16, 1929, at Pollock, SD, to Anton and Helen (Vetsch) Grenstiner.
He attended school at Pollock, SD, and moved to Baker, MT, in 1950 where he worked at a cement plant.
Art married Virginia Schaefer at Rhame, ND on October 6, 1953. They moved to Deadwood, SD, in 1954 where Art worked as a logger in the timber for 34 years.
Survivors include his wife Virginia Grenstiner, Sturgis; sons Anthony Grenstiner, Sturgis, Mark (Dawn) Grenstiner, Sturgis, Eric (Samantha) Grenstiner, Sturgis; daughter Marcella (Randy) Westendorf, Deadwood; also 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kay, one brother, and two sisters.
