Arthur L. Ketterling was born in Selby, SD, on March 10, 1935, to Arthur and Gertrude Ketterling. After graduating from Selby High School, Art worked for Selby Implement. At age 22, he joined the United States Air Force. He served his country for 20 years as a Weather Equipment Operator. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked various jobs in the Black Hills area.

In 1958, he married Marlene Kania. They had two children, Larry H. Ketterling and Korina L. Ketterling.

Arthur died unexpectedly on December 25, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son; and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn B. Kaseman.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; daughter, Korina Kaseman; grandson, Kasey Kaseman; granddaughter, Kala Kaseman; two great-grandsons, Aiden Kaseman and Deklan Brown; neice, Katrin Kania-Galeano and her children; and special granddaughter, Jessica Eisenhauer-Morataya.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Selfridge officiating. He will be laid to rest at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD, at 11:30 a.m. with military honors provided by the Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard.

Art will be greatly missed by his family and all of his friends.

A memorial has been established to Disabled American Veterans.
