Arthur Satrang, 91, Sturgis, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center.
Visitation will be at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor Michael Fox officiating. There will be a private family graveside service at Black Hills National Cemetery following the funeral.
Art was born Oct. 1, 1915, on a farm near Hillhead in Marshall County, to Karl and Helga (Brubakken) Satrang. He attended rural school and high school in Marshall County. Following his graduation, he worked for a short time in Wisconsin and later enlisted in the CCC. After his discharge, he worked in Montana on a dude ranch. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942 and in 1943 received a medical discharge.
Art was married to Dalza Sayers July 22, 1945. They both worked at a dude ranch, and later returned to Britton where they farmed. In 1956, they moved to Sturgis where they have resided since. Art managed a service station and later worked for the state highway department, retiring in 1980.
Art loved fishing, hunting, and dancing. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the American Legion, and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife,two sons, one daughter, two brothers, one sister, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
A memorial has been established to Grace Lutheran Church.
