STURGIS - Audrey Ellen Meisner, 72, Sturgis, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel and will resume Saturday one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.
Audrey was born January 26, 1936, in Sturgis, SD, to Amos and Charlotte (Lehmann) Orr. She grew up in Sturgis and graduated from Sturgis High School in 1955. Audrey was 10 years older than her sister, June. After receiving a business degree, she met Mel and they were married June 9, 1957, in Sturgis. They lived in Rapid City and Audrey worked for the Rapid City School System as a secretary for 19 years. They moved back to Sturgis and retired in 1988.
Audrey was proud to have raised her four children. She enjoyed scrapbooking, canning, cooking, and gardening, especially roses. She loved her family and loved helping take care of her mother. Audrey was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Idle Hour Club.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin Meisner, Sturgis; her mother, Charlotte Orr, Sturgis; two sons, Jim (Renae) Meisner, Rapid City, and David (Becky) Meisner, Sturgis; two daughters, Cindy (David) Gehringer, Sturgis, and Linda (Doug) Syman, Spearfish; one sister, June (Philip) Galvin, Salem, OR; and eight grandchildren, Samuel and Jacob Meisner, Andy, Elizabeth, Emily, and Christen Meisner, and Allison and Joseph Syman.
She was preceded in death by her father.
A memorial has been established to Grace Lutheran Church.
