Obituary

Aurie Mae (McBride) Ziebart, 84, of Rapid City, South Dakota, went to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Monument Health Hospital, in Sturgis, SD.

Aurie was born on August 21, 1938, to Neal and Anna McBride of Scandia, Kansas. She was the oldest of four girls and grew up in Scandia, Kansas.

On June 26, 1960, she married Vern Ziebart in Salina, Kansas. She met Vern while she was attending Asbury nurses training in Salina, Kansas. Shortly after they were married, she graduated as a Registered Nurse, while her husband did a tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force in Guam. They lived and raised their two children in Mitchell, SD, Huron, SD, Dickinson, ND, and finally Grand Forks, ND. They later retired to Rapid City, SD.

Aurie's passion for caring for people made her an excellent nurse. Her humble, servant- hearted nature fit so well as she cared for people at hospitals in Mitchell, Huron, Dickinson, Grand Forks, and her final job at an infectious disease clinic in Rapid City. She worked in various roles including the emergency room and the geriatric department.

She enjoyed reading, baking, attending Bible Study Fellowship classes, line dancing, shopping, roller skating, walking, cold pop, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her sisters and friends. Once she started having grandchildren, she loved spending time with them and pouring into their lives. She lit up when talking about her three grandchildren, Abby, Taylor, and Ben. She turned her love of shopping into a time to hunt down gifts for her them.

Aurie was loved and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Vern Ziebart; daughter, Kari Panneck (Herndon, VA); son-in-law, Greg; granddaughter, Abby (Lynchburg, VA); granddaughter, Taylor (attending James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA); grandson, Ben (attending Cedarville University in Cedarville, OH); her sisters, Mary McBride (Salina, KS), Bev Weiss (Loveland, CO), and Liz Brand (the greater Los Angeles area, CA).

She was preceded in death by her son Kirk Ziebart.
