Balthasar Jack Hopfinger, 85, of Glenrock, Wyoming, died at his home on March 22, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2013, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Father Bill Zandri officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sturgis Honor Guard.
B. Jack was born on July 22, 1927, in Bixby, South Dakota to Michael and Katherine (Vetter) Hopfinger. On November 27, 1950, he married Rosalie Hayes in Sturgis and to this union six children were born.
B. Jack worked at Fort Meade in various cooking positions from 1947 to 1984 and he served in the Army from 1950 to 1952, serving the veterans at Fort Meade and his country for a total of 35 years and 10 months. He also owned and operated Boulder Canyon Horseshoeing from 1967 to 1972.
He was an avid horseman and loved his quarter horses and Texas longhorns. He cherished time with his family, and liked to go fishing.
B. Jack is survived by his wife, Dottie Hopfinger, Glenrock, WY; sons, Michael Hopfinger, Sturgis, and Dennis Hopfinger, Spearfish; daughters, Donna (Mike) Auer, Whitewood, Mary (James) Quenzer, Gillette, WY, Carole Hopfinger, Sturgis, and Brenda Hopfinger, Sturgis; brothers, Johnny Hopfinger, Rosebird, OR, and Francis (Lou) Hopfinger, Piedmont; step-children, Kerry McKillip-Humphrey, Kim McKillip, and Kevin McKillip; grandchildren, Jason (Sara) Carter, Kristy (Neal Drury) Carter, and Joshua (Misty) Sherman; great-grandchildren, Anakka Carter, Lilyrose Sherman, Winona Werlinger, and Britnee Biza; numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalie; parents, Michael and Katherine; brother, Anthony; and sisters, Mary, Betty, and Rose.
