IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara "Bobber"
Alice Barritt
September 22, 1928 – August 22, 2015
Barbara Giffin Barritt "Bobber" died Saturday, August 22, 2015, at the Weston County Memorial Hospital in Newcastle, WY.
Barbara Alice Giffin was born September 22, 1928, at her family home near Osage, WY, to parents, LeRoy and Daisy (Martens) Giffin. She grew up in the Osage area and graduated from Upton High School in 1946. On September 22, 1946, on her 18th birthday, she married her high school sweetheart, Keith Barritt. They made their home in Upton, WY, where they enjoyed raising their family.
She made her own wedding cake which led to a life-long career of baking cakes. She made cakes for nearly every one of her grandchildren's birthdays and weddings. She was also employed by the Upton Schools for over twenty years.
They built their cabin in the Big Horns in 1981 where they spent many days with their grandkids, family, and friends. Bobber always had a meal ready for family or anyone who happened to drop in. It seemed she always had fresh baked Butterhorns along with some kind of delicious dessert.
One of her favorite pastimes was attending all of her grandchildren's activities. She especially enjoyed their sporting events. She was a fan to the point of questioning "most" of the referee's calls, especially if the call was on one of her grandkids. She also spent many hours videoing their activities which they still enjoy watching.
Survivors include her husband, Keith; her sons, Tim (Yvonne) and Tom (Liz); brother, Ron Giffin; grandchildren, Loren, Heather, Brian, Mindy, April, and Cody; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harry Giffin; and her sister, June Graeber.
Memorial services will be Thursday, August 27, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Upton Community Center. Inurnment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Upton at a later date.
