Barbara M. Lutz, 89, Sturgis, SD died at the Hospice Unit at the Sturgis Regional Hospital Wednesday, June 7, 2006.

Barbara was born at Sturgis, SD on December 5, 1916 to Robert and Thersa (Berg) Cruickshank. Barb grew up in Sturgis and attended and graduated from Sturgis High School, attended the University of Minnesota for one year, and also the University of Wyoming. She attended the School of Nursing at Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago, Ill.

Barb was married to Dr. Frederick Lutz at Sturgis, SD on July 12, 1942.

Barbara lived in Lake Forest, Ill from 1946 until 1972. She and Jack returned to Sturgis in 1972 where she has since lived.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Sturgis Area Arts Council, UPW and Black Hills Pioneers and "Tuesday Girls". Barb lived by the motto "To be Loved– be Loveable".

Survivors include two sons and one daughter. Also two sisters and five grandchildren survive. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Burial will be at the Bear Butte Cemetery.
