Barbara Louise Remington was born November 13, 1962, in Sturgis, SD, to Earl and Linda (Chowen) Remington. She lived in Red Owl, SD, as a child then moved to Vale, SD, with her parents on the dairy farm. Barb went to school in Newell, SD.
After graduating Barb had many jobs cooking, she worked as a nanny for a while eventually moving to Deadwood, SD, where she meet her love of her life, Troy "Bud" Ray, II, in 1990 they were married in March 16, 1991, and begin life together first in Deadwood then moving to Sturgis. She moved around to many places with Bud making friends everywhere she went as she always had a smile for everyone. In 1996, her son Michael came into her life whom she loved very much. After living in Wyoming, and Montana, she moved back to the Sturgis area to be near friends and relatives. She worked as a cook in many restaurants, she enjoyed cooking at nursing homes at first then driving a bus taking the residents to appointments and later being an activity director.
She also enjoyed being a foster parent taking care of several foster kids in South Dakota and Wyoming. She loved being a wife and mother. She brought joy to all the lives that she touched and will be missed by many. She loved her time in Montana going for rides in the mountains and seeing all the wild life. Barb was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Barbara Louise Ray, 58, of Vale, SD, died Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Monument Health Sturgis Hospital.
Barb is survived by husband, Bud Ray; son, Michael (Sammie) Ray; father, Earl Remington; brother, Craig (Teresa) Remington; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Troy (Connie) Ray; sisters-in-law, Roberta (Dale) Crabtree, and Catherine Ray.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Remington; her grandparents; mother-in-law, Wilda Ray; and numerous aunts, uncles, and relatives.
Visitation will be 4-6 pm on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD. Interment will follow at Vale Cemetery.
