Barbara Ann Shyne, 56, Sturgis, died Sunday, October 8, 2006, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.

Barb was born July 13, 1950, at Sioux Falls, SD, to Tom and Elsie (Bakker) Urban. She attended Lennox High School and graduated in 1968. She then went on and attended Southeast Vo-Tech School. Barb married Pat Shyne on May 15, 1976 at Tea, SD.

They lived in the Sioux Falls area until 1984 and then they moved to Custer where she worked for the Soil Conservation in Custer. They moved to Piedmont in 1989 and Barb began to work for Western South Dakota Juvenile Services Center in Pennington County. In 1996, they moved to Sturgis.

Survivors include one son, one daughter, her mother,one brother and his family and two sisters. Survivors also include a brother-in-law and his family, and three sisters-in-law's and their families.

Her husband, Pat, and father, Tom, and nephew, James Peterson, preceded her in death.

Mass of Christian burial at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
