Barbara J. (Kuckleburg) Varilek, 74, Rapid City, died, Saturday July 12, 2014 surrounded by family after a courageous fight with long-term illnesses.

A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday July 14, 2014 at Our Lady of the Black Hills, Piedmont, SD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Our Lady of the Black Hills, Piedmont, SD. Private Inurnment services will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.

Barbara was born in Mitchell, SD on October 30, 1939, daughter of Raymond and Clarice (Miller) Kuckleburg. She was an avid reader, wonderful cook, loved road trips, and always worked her crosswords in pen.

Barb is survived by her husband Robert of 56 years. Survivors also include their nine children and spouses with their families: Lisa Volk, Topeka, KS; Lynn "Blair" Sullivan, Bradford, CT; Timothy (Paula), Rapid City; Susan (Jim) Laurenti, Mukilteo, WA; Robert C. (Laura), Rapid City; Julie (Jake) Backes, Box Elder; Andrew (Naomi), Billings, MT; Nathan, Rapid City; Margaret (Riccardo) Giacomini, Porcia, Italy; 26 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, R.J. (Kim) Kuckleburg, John (Judy) Kuckleburg, and her favorite brother-in-law, Mick Penticoff.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Jo Penticoff.
