Barry Joseph Austin, 42, White Owl, died as the result of an automobile accident with his special friend Dorothy Iiams of Casper on Tuesday May 9th, 2006.

Barry was born March 4, 1964 at Sturgis, SD, to Jerry and Patty (Collins) Austin. He grew up on the family ranch and attended country schools at Metegoshe and Enning. He graduated from Sturgis Brown High School in 1983. He worked on a ranch in Nebraska for a short time before returning to the family ranch near White Owl.

Barry drove truck for Anders Trucking in Union Center and Sivage Trucking out of Ft. Pierre. But most of his life has been spent on the family ranch and he dearly loved his family and friends, taking care of livestock and the country way of life.

Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Patty Austin, White Owl; two brothers, Bryan Austin and his wife Tyra, Enning and Bradley Austin and his wife Melissa, White Owl; one sister Sunshine Gerbracht and her husband Quentin, Maurine; and numerous nieces and nephews and two great nieces. He will be dearly missed by his family and his dog, Pretty.

Barry was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Bea Austin and maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Ruth Collins.

Burial at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
