Obituary

Bernard "Bernie" Hall, 79, of Summerset, passed away April 7, 2013, in Rapid City, SD.

Bernie was born in Lead on February 26, 1934, to William and Hazel (Ames) Hall. He grew up in Lead and graduated from Lead High School in 1952. He served in Korea for the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. Bernie graduated from Black Hills State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1970 and he taught for Meade School District 46-1 for eleven years. After teaching, he worked for the Lawrence County Highway Department in Deadwood until he retired at the age of 58.

Bernard was a member of the Deadwood Masonic Lodge, Shriners Club, Eastern Star, Elks Lodge, and United Methodist Church.

He married Della Borup in Sturgis on August 14, 1960, and raised his family in Boulder Canyon before moving to Summerset with his loving wife in 2005.

Bernie is survived by his wife, Della; two sons, Brad (Lindy) Hall of Sturgis, and Jason (Erin) Hall of San Luis Obispo, CA; granddaughter, Parker; dog, Duke; sister, Virginia Fuller of Texas; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Morrell of Sturgis, Kay Hall of Nisland, and Donna Boner of Piedmont; brother-in-law Pete Borup of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Daniel, and Wendall; and sister, Margaret Hall.

Graveside funeral services will be Friday, April 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery with Masonic rites provided by Deadwood Masonic Lodge #7 and military honors provided by Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at Kinkade Funeral Chapel. Family and friends are asked to gather at Kinkade Funeral Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the Shriners Hospital and Humane Society.
