Bernard "Bernie" Lloyd Micheel, 63, Newell, SD, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2006, as the result of a ranching accident at Newell.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 5, 2006, from noon until 9 p.m. at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to services on Monday. Funeral services will be Monday, November 6, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Seven Down Arena in Spearfish, SD, with Mr. Francis Roundy officiating. Burial will follow at Nemo Cemetery.
Bernie was born December 18, 1942, at Valentine, NE, to Lloyd and Reta (Roundy) Micheel. Bernie grew up in the Sandhills of Nebraska and went to high school in Valentine and Hyannis. He was married to Joyce Hollenbeck in 1965 and had four children. Bernie moved to South Dakota in 1984 and married Barbara Ferguson in 1989. Bernie enjoyed his grandkids, family, friends, the sport of rodeo, raising bulls and being a stock contractor. He had many accomplishments in and outside the arena.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Micheel, Newell, SD; mother, Reta Micheel, Hot Springs, SD; brother, Jack (Janet) Micheel, Seneca, NE; sister, Bonnie (Ed) Schemm, Fort Collins, CO; daughters Kerry (Billy) Warren, Maxwell, NE, Kelly (Bryon) Painter, Long Pine, NE: sons Stan (Mandy) Micheel, Sargent, NE; Stacey (Char) Micheel, Parks, NE. He is also survived by stepchildren Cody (Stella) Ferguson, Sturgis, SD, Tori (Steve) Iske, New Underwood, SD, Jami (Kevin) Goss, Rapid City, SD, JaeDee Ferguson, Sturgis, SD; 26 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild and six nieces and nephews.
Bernie was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and three nieces.
