Berrian Lee "Butch" Lindsey 80, Box Elder, SD, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Monument Health in Rapid City.
Butch was born in Ingleside, TX, on August 14, 1943, to R.J. Lindsey and Virginia Lee (Ellis) Lindsey. Butch served in the U.S. Army for many years. He was a Vietnam Veteran, having served several years there and in Germany. Butch was a proud soldier, he was a Forward Reserve Artillery, he served in the 101st in Kentucky and the 82nd in North Carolina. After serving Butch was an auto mechanic and also hitchhiked America, traveling all over and finally landing in Hot Springs S.D. Soon after he was set up on a blind date and met the love of his life, Linda Lindsey. Together they formed a beautiful life blending their two families. Butch and Linda would be happily married 38 years, raising their 4 children and then grandchildren. Butch loved to camp and fish and build and work on vehicles.
Butch is survived by his wife, Linda Lindsey; his granddaughter, Chanda (Matt), her children Cameron, Makayla, and Kyle; his brother, Robbie (barb) and his son, Rick (Jenni) and Rick's sons, Charlie (Danielle) and Nathan (Brooke) and his children, Pheobe, June, Jackson, and Shane; Butch's son, Carl and his son Zacherlee; Linda's son, Sony (Leslie); Linda's daughter, Dodi and grandson, Chad and grandson, Nick and his children, Andrew and Cora
Butch is preceded in death by his son, Gary; first wife, Hazel; his mom, Virginia; and his dad, R.J.
Visitation will be Friday, February 9, 2024, 10:45 a.m., followed by burial, with military honors, at Black Hills National Cemetery.
