Bettina "Tina" Catherina Harris
Seidel
Nov 6, 1959 — Sep 30, 2026
Sturgis, SD
Bettina "Tina" Cathrina Harris Siedel, 66, of Sturgis, South Dakota, passed away peacefully at home on September 30, 2026. Her beloved husband Rodney was by her side.
Tina was born November 6, 1959, in Berlin, Germany, to Joseph Cullen Harris and Dagmar Berta Verbeek, while her father was stationed there with the United States Army. The family later settled in Fountain, Colorado, a small town south of Colorado Springs, where Tina grew up. As a young woman, she married Fred Usher, who served in the U.S. Navy, together they welcomed their son, Shuan. They later seperated and Tina went on to marry Rodney R. Siedel. Tina and Rodney eventually left Colorado to make their permanent home in Sturgis, where they built a life surrounded by family, friends, and community.
Tina was a warm presence in Sturgis. For many years she opened her home to friends and family during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, building friendships that stretched well beyond South Dakota and drew visitors from many states. She worked at various venues during the rally, and the rest of the year at local businesses, including Lynn's Dakota Mart and several casinos in Deadwood. Easygoing and friendly, she never missed a chance to make a new friend. Tina loved motorcycles and the freedom of the open road, and riding was one of the great joys of her life. She loved nature, and her faith, rooted in both Native American spirituality and her Christian beliefs, was a steady source of strength and comfort. Though her family was spread across the country, she loved them deeply and always found ways to stay close.
Tina is survived by her husband, Rodney R. Siedel; her son, Shuan C. Usher; her grandchildren, Nina and Christopher Usher; her sister, Susan Ann Diane Miller; her brother, Frank A. Harris; her former husband, Frederick E. Usher; her cousins Debbie Daffron Parker, Michael Daffron, Sharon Daffron, and Marilyn Daffron, who were like siblings to her; and many other loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Cullen Harris and Dagmar Berta Verbeek.
Tina's love, warmth, sense of humor and generous spirit will stay with all who knew her. She will be deeply missed. A celebration of Tina's life will be held November 7, 2026, in Denver, Colorado. Location details will be shared as they become available.
