Betty Lou Droppers of Sturgis, SD, died at home on February 8, 2014, surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Phillip, SD to Roy and Bessie Van Cleave on October 14, 1931. She graduated from Miller High School, Miller, SD. She married Lyle Droppers on February 27, 1950. Of this marriage, they had six children, Lila (Larry) Wallace of Sturgis, Sandi (Danny) Hayes of Rapid City, Lyle (Linda) Droppers of Sturgis, Arlene (Bill) Brown of Faulkton, Luetta (Richard) Staley of Belle Fourche, and Monte (special friend Brenda) of Sturgis. She has 19 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Cochran of Sturgis and Velma (Donnie) Dachtler of Whitewood; and many, many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lyle; her brothers, Bob and Art; and a grandson, Jeremiah. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Believer's Fellowship in Sturgis with services at 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 12 at the church. Inurnment will take place at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 2pm. Memorials may be made to Northern Hills Hospice.
