Obituary

Betty Dubry, 86, Sturgis, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at the Sturgis Regional Health Care Center.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. Burial will follow at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Betty was born April 30, 1922, at Wasta, SD, to Lee C. and Mayme (Miner) Huddleston. She attended grade school in Elm Springs, SD, through the eighth grade and her freshman year in Wasta. She was a sophomore in Rapid City and graduated from the Piedmont High School in 1939.

Betty married Alvin "Bud" Hix at Sturgis. She worked in a local caf? before moving to Rapid City where she worked in the B&B Caf?. The couple adopted two children, Jim and Carolyn.

Betty married Elmer Lawrence "Buck" Dubry in Wyoming on August 24, 1956. They lived in Rapid City for two years. They moved to Sturgis in 1958 where Betty operated the Frontier Service Station while Buck worked construction. They moved to Tilford upon retiring. After Buck's death in 1990, Betty moved back to Sturgis and lived at Heritage Acres.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn (Rich) Cleveland, Sturgis; one son, Jim (Joleen) Dubry, Charlotte Hall, Maryland; two sisters, Lois Skvicalo, Lead, and Leona Casteel, Vale; two brothers, Bill Huddleston, Buffalo, WY, and Red Huddleston, Sturgis; four grandchildren, Tammy (Tim) Hall, Troy Gossard, Jason (Jamie) McNenny, and Christopher Dubry; five great-grandchildren, Julia, Mason, and Lucas Hall, Devon Beamon, and Cade McNenny; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Bud, and one sister, Myrtle.

A memorial has been established to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
